Tabwell is a Chrome extension that helps you save and restore browser sessions.
What the extension stores locally
Tabwell stores all of your tab data (snapshots, settings, search index) locally on your device using IndexedDB and chrome.storage APIs.
What Tabwell services receive
We do not operate servers that receive your tab URLs, tab titles, snapshots, or search index. We do not have analytics. We do not use cookies in the extension.
Paid upgrades are processed by Polar. Tabwell's billing service stores purchase and license metadata such as license key, product id, customer id, and receipt email so Pro can activate and so you can manage the purchase. It does not receive your tab URLs, tab titles, or snapshots.
Crash reports
If you opt in to crash reporting (off by default), anonymized error events may be sent to Hawk.so. These events contain:
- Error message and stack trace
- Tabwell version
- Browser version
We strip URLs and titles from these events before they leave your device.
Cloud sync (future feature)
When Tabwell Pro Cloud Sync ships (currently in development), enabling it will sync your snapshots to your own Google Drive or Dropbox folder. Tabwell servers, if any, will only act as a passthrough — data is encrypted on your device before upload using a key derived from your passphrase. We will never see your data in plaintext.
Your rights (GDPR)
- Access: Settings → Export all data
- Delete: Settings → Clear all data
- Portability: Export is in standard JSON format
